Lisa Mitchell – Oh! Hark! Tour

‘Oh! Hark!’ is the latest single from Lisa Mitchell’s debut album ‘Wonder’ and what better way to celebrate its release than a national theatre tour.

Whether you love her music or hate it, I believe she’s earnt a fair amount of respect since appearing on Australian Idol a few years ago.  Her achievements include her album debuting at 6 on the ARIA charts, ‘Coin Laundry’ making it to number 7 in the hottest 100 of 2009 and receiving 3 ARIA nominations. Not to mention UK and Australian tours.

Lisa Mitchell has the ability to write well crafted songs mixed with a variety of instrumentation and changing styles. I predict her new single, ‘Oh! Hark!’ with it’s upbeat tune and catchy lyrics will quickly join my itunes most played list.

Admittedly, there’s another reason why i’m excited about this tour. More than often I attend gigs to see the support bands rather than the headline, this tour is no different. Two of my favourite bands (yes, i have a few favourites) will be joining Lisa Mitchell on tour, Boy & Bear and Georgia Fair, both of which i’ve previsouly blogged about.

Possibly unknown to you, there was a time when Boy & Bear frontman Dave Hosking played solo and often supporting him were Manyana, known now as Georgia Fair. Underage and living on the other side of the country those were the gigs i wanted to attend, it’s been a long time waiting but Boy & Bear and Georgia Fair will finally tour again together! (and somewhat ironically, will finally play in Perth – after i’ve moved to Melbourne!)
