Philadelphia Grand Jury

The Philly Jays

I’m Going To Kill You.

Not really. Hopefully you recognise that as one of the song titles from Going to the Casino EP by Sydney’s Philadelphia Grand Jury. If not, what rock have you been living under, and more importantly what have you been listening to over the last few months?  It’s time to welcome The Philly Jays into your music collection and onto your stages. The latter a must, this is one band you can’t miss live.

Philadelphia Grand Jury have just completed a national tour supporting Dappled Cities but that hasn’t been your only chance to see them live this year. The Philly Jays have supported the likes of Yves Klein Blue, Bluejuice and Manchester Orchestra, not to mention playing Big Day Out and Laneway Festival. The gigs don’t stop there, add to that Triple J Unearthed’s International Relations Tour with Hungry Kids of Hungary and Washington AND their own national headline tour.

It’s exhausting just writing all of those but it still doesn’t stop there, it seems The Philly Jays haven’t grasped the concept of taking a break but who can blame them. Over the next few months they’ll play festivals such as Parklife, Fresh Fest, Fat as Butter, One Movement and Southbound. Oh and did I mention they’ve just announced Hope is for Hopers Album tour?

It’s always good to see bands embracing new technology; in this case The Philly Jays have jumped on the Twitter wagon and are offering fans a bonus track just for tweeting. In order for fans to receive the bonus track 500 tweets have to include @phillyjays and either #hopeisforhopers or #thegoodnews tags. More details here.

New single The Good News is available to download for free, with the debut album Hope is for Hopers out September 25th. (Preorder at JB Hi-Fi and get a free tshirt)
