Oh Mercy

Having supported the likes of The Panics, Whitley and Ben Kweller in the past, Melbourne four-piece Oh Mercy now hit the road supporting Little Birdy on the Confetti tour.

I first came across Oh Mercy via Triple J Unearthed and instantly loved what I heard; songs like A City and Losing Touch were soon on high rotation. Wine improves over time, as has this band and with time Oh Mercy is starting to receive much deserved attention. With Seemed Like A Good Idea and Lay Everything On Me being added to high rotation on Triple J and with press raving; “Listening to Oh Mercy is like having Augie March covering The Go-Betweens in your backyard on a sunny afternoon; breezy, pleasant and a little dreamy.” (Oyster Mag Online) it’s about time you jumped on the Oh Mercy bandwagon.

Unfortunately I’m yet to see Oh Mercy live (although Alexander Gow supported Sparkadia solo last year in Perth, I was still under 18 and therefore missed out) That being said, Oh Mercy is playing an acoustic set at 78 Records in Perth on Saturday May 30th at 2pm then that night Oh Mercy play Capitol with Little Birdy. So whether you are under 18 or over 18, if you are in Perth make an effort to catch Oh Mercy live.

Not in Perth? Don’t worry. Oh Mercy is touring through May with Little Birdy followed by EP launches in June. In The Nude For Love EP will be released on May 22nd  For more details head to Oh Mercy’s myspace.

  1. Hey Sabi, nice write up. You might like to read an interview with Alex on my music blog prosepurple.blogspot.com, it might be of interest. I was in the same boat as you, and finally caught them live on Sunday, was great. No “a city” though, sadly.
